We recently bought a LG front load washer at Lowes. It works good. Fits a queen size comforter good. We have not tryed all the cycles yet but the heavy duty cycle is loud. Ask me again in a few years how its doing.

This is my 3rd LG washer in 5 years. First 2 failed because of leakage and rotation problem with the drum The 3rd is leaking water less than 1 year after purchase still under manufacturers warranty. The service department sent me detergent to wash the drum/tub and Sears Home Service after warning me that SHS will likely charge me for the service call. Why would I be responsible for defect of a new machine that is still under manufactures warranty?. As a scientist when 3 machines failed because of leakage speaks volume about the dependency and quality of the machine. For LG to try to renegade on their warranty speaks volume about their business ethics. Beware of LG .

Cycles run much too long poorly designed

Ive owned this new washer for 1 month. It was sealed in its original box and didnt include instructions for this model. It came with a generic manual for 10 models. No information on how to use the machine that I bought. I called LG and they said they would mail me instructions and it would take 10 days. I didnt get them. After 2 weeks I called LG again and he apologized and said he would resend express or fast delivery. Now its been a month I still have no instructions and decided to write the review. Washer grades: A. machine is pretty quiet. Nice. A. very large drum can fit a lot of clothes. Good for large bedding items and 2+ people. D. no tumble fresh. Must take clothes out immediately or they are badly wrinkledcannot start wash and run an errand. Stuck at home now waiting for laundry. But theres more on wrinkles C. the medium spin cycle wrinkles my clothes anyway. Ive switched to low spin which seems to lessen the wrinkles somewhat. I havent tried high spin yet. My previous machine never caused so many wrinkles and I do not like this. I dont iron. This overpowered spin is probably good for blankets. F. really long wash cycles im talking hours. And it doesnt tell you beforehand. You find out after it starts. On the normal cycle cold wash med soil with a full load with 2 jeans 1 pant 1 sweat jacket Tees knit shirts pajamas and socks took 1 hr 45 min. The clothes were not more clean than my old washer with 57 min. With tap cold still takes about 90 min. The drum is bigger than the old one 4.5 cu vs 4.0 cu. The extra 1/2 cu doesnt warrant double the time to wash. Ive tried Normal Towels Bedding and Delicates. Delicates is pre-set 41 min. F. there is no small load. When I called LG for the instructions I asked about this. How do I set a 1/2 load? She said it had a built in sensor and will sense the smaller load and cut the time on normal. Wrong. It still ran about 70 min The online manual says to use speed wash but that is only 15 min. How can it clean the same way in 15 min vs 70 min? I havent tried this yet. B. fairly easy to dry the inner seal after washing. Its small and tight. Only time will tell if there is build up. A. plays a little song when its done. Scared me the first time. Theres no way to change it to a beep. Maybe the manual tells you how. In conclusion im not happy with this machine and its lack of basic features e.g. small load. When I bought my old washer 16 years ago i loved it. This one needs improvement as does LG customer service. The customer service is important when you dont have instructions on how to use the controls.

Purchase installation AND standard parts except NO standard parts were delivered. When contacted their Customer Support they tried to convince me standards parts are NOT included and I must purchase these parts separately. When I explained to no avail that installation AND standard parts imply two 2 things a someone to install and b the standard necessary to install either they didnt comprehend or they just didnt care. They tried their best to deny and convince me otherwise. I will NEVER waste money on another LG product when their installation AND standard parts additional line item DOES NOT INCLUDE STANDARD PARTS. The LG customer service team has such a heavy accent and too much background noise to understand what theyre attempting to convey. For me I would NOT RECOMMEND LG for anything

The LG WM3400CW washer is a very good machine. It could benefit from a final step of softly fluffing the items at the end of the rinse cycle for a few minutes. This may seem insignificant if all laundered items are immediately transferred to a dryer but if you plan to line dry items or dry delicates like handkerchiefs on a countertop youre having to deal with compressed items. Customer service has mostly been unhelpful with Brians last suggestion being to use the delicate cycle.

I contacted LG Help before purchasing this washer to find out if anything was needed for the installation - specifically hoses. I was assured that everything needed was included. The only accessory mentioned on the site is the optional pedestal. It was only after the installers left today that I read the owners manual that states that the hot and cold water hoses are REQUIRED ACCESSORIES that are sold separately. NO WHERE on this site are the required accessories mentioned. The LG help said there were none and the installers said nothing. Now I have to buy the hoses and hire a plumber to install them. I am NOT happy.

Excellent washing machine

Ive been using this washing machine for a couple of years and have been completely satisfied. It cleans my clothes but is also gentle on them. I use the cold or low temperature settings and everything comes out clean. I can wash large items like rugs The machine has bells and whistles but also obvious options e.g. gentle and normal cycles so I can accomplish what I want. Very happy with my purchase.

I love the way it washes. When we first got the washer it was soo quiet. It washed everything so clean too. And then it started..after 4 years...to sound like a Cement mixer. Now it is dying. The repair person says the bearings are shot. Cost for repairs is high enough that Im just going to buy another one. I do like it that much.

New to my LG washer and dryer. Im still confused as to why normal wash is 3H. I downloaded the Manuel. Is there any way to not have my wash go for 3H. Is there a reason someone will wash a load for 3 hours? Even some of the other settings are 60-90 minutes.

These machines are not stable.. I started having issues with completing cycles and emptying soap a few years into the usage.. I have been only using Speed Wash cycle only for last 2-3 years so the cycle finish without stopping.. Other wash settings would not complete the cycle and give errors.. It also stopped emptying soap from the dispenser.. I had to run my wash couple of times so it would empty the soap.. I have bought the machine brand new from Costco and in 2018 and I would say it started acting up in 2022-2023 and now its getting so bad that I wanted to write this review

One problem weve had is the tray for liquid soap etc. is always full of water unless you gently tip it upwards and wait a couple minutes for it to empty. No big deal. The bigger problem is the gasket around the door is always full of moldy gunk black disgusting film. This is OK too if youre willing to leave the door open to allow the interior to dry and wipe the gasket after each use. This actually doesnt help so I scrub with bleach and/or oxi after every wash. Pro tip: buy another model or brand that eliminates this step.

When FREE Haul Away is not Free

The products advertisement says haul away is free but it isnt free unless later on the customer selects selects a button to view Haul Away Services and then selects Haul Away. I believe this additional requirement is misleading. LG should recount the customers selections before the order is completed. The new machine was delivered but hauler refused to take the old unit.

Multiple failures and repair costs in 7 years

Do not purchase this expensive paperweight We bought this washer in 2018 and less than 4 years later had to call a tech to come replace the water pump due to a Drain Error message. $350 later we were able to use our washer for a whole 1 and a half years before we got the same error message and had to pay another $300 to replace the replacement water pump. Here we are exactly 1 and a half years after the 2nd repair and we are receiving the same Drain Error message. We contacted customer service through multiple channels who gave us the same scripted response with helpful tips. I regularly drain the washer and clean the filter leave the door and detergent door open after washes as recommended and follow all recommended steps. None of these tips prevented 3 water pumps failing in 7 years. We have an LG washer dryer and fridge and will never buy another LG product again.

Moldy doesnt last expensive to fix in warranty

Constantly has mold growing inside makes clothes stink and have to run multiple cycles also only covered for 1 year if something breaks so now my 3 year old unit needs a motor replacement already which they cover the part for 10 years but labor is $400 flat rate to repair. Go with a different brand

We have only owned this washer for five years and the bearings are shot they started going bad after three years and the fix is too expensive to make it worthwhile. It also has constant odors regardless of how often we clean it and empty the drain. Do not recommend.

Bought this washer in late 2021 and it made it almost 4 years. Had a few minor problems with codes and such that I guess are possibly the users fault for not checking the drain filter as often as needed. But after less than 4 years for the bearings in the rear of the drum housing to come apart without any warning or reason. Never had any problems with unbalanced loads like in our previous machines. Then one day it just started howling on spin cycle. As the days went by the sound got louder and louder. So i bought the parts and repaired myself this past weekend and now itss like new again. Just as a side note the parts from Amazon were $38 the ones on LG website were $140. Not very customer friendly for a customer who bought your machine. All and all I would say that this is not surprising to me out of big business. All Hail Amazon and the ability to do things for yourself. Hopefully I will get another 4 years or more out of this thing.

Avoid this washer - and probably LG

We bought this washer at the end of May 2024. In June 2025 it broke. Since then I have literally been adding buckets of water throughout the cycles for it to at least do SOMETHING. Water does not stay in the tub. All it does is spin contents around while they get slightly damp from the splash up from the small amount of water that goes into the basin under the tub. We already replaced the water level pressure sensor $40 for the part. Water does run into the machine - including through the soap dispenser tray. It drains just fine. Audible water entering and exiting the machine. Both hot and cold water have the same issue. It is not a hook up error. It is a machine error. I havent decided if its worth trying to change the inlet valves about $100 for each type. But because both water temps are issues more than likely its the control board - which isnt worth fixing about $400 for the part. This washer is a waste of $800. I am trying to at least get some value out of it by adding the buckets - to not waste even more money by having to go to the laundromat despite having a less than 2 year old washing machine. LG doesnt know how to make a washer apparently. Seriously. Avoid this junk. I pretty much never do reviews - but I am trying to warn people to not waste their money and time on this junk.

Washer developed a leak from the dispenser area. Two factory service calls amounting to the total cost of the washer without resolution of the issue. Contacted LG CS. They said to clean it more frequently: didnt help. Decided to replace washer with another brand.

We have had this machine for six months since December 2024. So far it is a great machine. Our clothes are clean the machine is quiet and the chime at the end of the cycle is pleasant and reminds us the load is finished. We leave the door and compartment open at the end of the cycle to keep the machine mold and mildew free and have had no odor issues. The only downside that I can see is that if you wash something bigger and heavier such as a large blanket or light comforter the machine moves out of place while it spins due to the weight. I havent put any really heavy comforters in it just a light one. But its not a big deal.

This washer quit working after 8 months. LG customer service would not honor the warranty. Horrible washer design. The intake hoses are obo e the access panel. Any hose leak drips and goes into the motor area. Customer service made several excuses to void the warranty.

My clothes are smellier coming out of this washing machine than going in. We requested a return and they performed unnecessary repairs but would not give a refund. The machine does not clean clothes even though ours was functioning as designed. We had to buy another washing machine because this is the worst washing machine I have ever had and their customer service is awful especially if you buy through Home Depot.

Leaking repair costs almost what machine did

The washer worked fine for 3 years almost exactly then it started leaking. The warrenty does not cover this. It ruined my floors. LG customer service is hard to use and the minimum cost of repair is $400. That price is only if you are willing to pay them before they give you a time estimate for the repair.

This garbage excuse for a washer has been janky from the start. The computer finally stopped working and so we called a technician to see what was up. We had a 5 year warranty and the technician tells us actually that warranty is just for the motor not the computer. So now he says we need to buy some circuit board for $800+ to repair this trash machine. NEVER BUY LG. They robbed us.

Leaking on day 13

I was excited to get this. It worked well but cycles are so long. It takes 90 minutes to wash 4 pair of jeans. It is pretty quiet but makes more noise than our old one did when new. Our last LG lasted 12 years without issue but the bearings wore out. We got this and washed a load or two a day. Thirteen days after we got it it started to leak. We read the manual and it said it could be a clogged air vent from not running tub wash enough and to run tub wash. We did and it leaked and not from the air vent. We contacted LG on day 4 and they had us take photos and videos and run tub clean again and then told us to tighten a clamp UNDERNEATH the washer I asked for repair personnel to do that since I was not strong enough to get it out of the drip try and turn it over. I was told they only send repair personnel for certain things. Apparently a leaking washer doesnt rate. I said I wanted them to take it back. It was exactly 14 days after I received it. They argued it was 15. How? I showed them the receipt that said I had until the 10th to return it and they said I didnt. Huh? I spent 1 hour and 49 minutes on the phone. Finally they agreed to take it back. Honestly all they had to do was send a repair person. LG used to be wonderful. Every single appliance I own is LG but no more. Very sad. It seemed like a nice machine.

OK but no backlight on the control panel

I converted from from top load to front load washers with this machine. There is no longer any top load machine with a base frame that would stabilize the machine and have a quieter operation. I own this LG front load for 1 year so far and I am pleased with the washers very quiet operation. Lack of an agitator means less punishment on my clothes. Even with the laundry door open I can hardly hear the machine operating with minimal floor vibration. Clothes come out almost dry with the high rotating speed around 1300 rpm compared to 700 rpm for a front load machine. The machine works very well. I gave 4 stars because the control panel is not backlit so it is hard to see the settings. Without the backlight I thought the washer was defective I would have liked a setting of spin only - for items handwashed and needing a good spin only

I purchased this 3 years ago because I had a similar LG model for several years and never had a problem. So far no problems with this one. The only thing I dont like about this one is that I really should have a pedestal to make it easier to unload--it takes quite a bend and reach to get all of the items out. Does a wonderful job though.

I will stick with a washboard and a washtub instead of having this machine boil my clothes. A repair person already fixed it to make sure the hoses or wires werent crossed. Its still shooting hot water even if we select the cold setting I will update this review if anything changes. Otherwise run

Its fine I guess. It was already in the house when I bought the house. It doesnt have an agitator so that helps keep clothes looking newer than they would if you washed them in a machine with an agitator. If your clothes are covered in mud or really dirty you would have to wash them twice. Im told this machine doesnt use much electricity or much water compared to older machines with agitators.

I wanted a good basic washer didnt feel that I needed any fancy things like steam or an app on my phone. This works fairly well but a part of me misses dials that I can physically turn as you can set things a lot faster than this digital display. The washer cleans everything very well even on medium spin cycle wrings a lot of water out to make drying faster. I wish there was a way to change the defaults when I turn it on because I never use the default that LG created.
