A sore head for tall people
Lee1
6/30/2025
Bought in 2019 in a new home. No repairs during my ownership. Issues: I am 6 foot tall. Hit my head multiple times on the unit. Hard angles and pointed ends. Suggesting the following changes. Change drop from cabinet from 9 inch to 5 inches max. The extension from cabinet is 8 inches change to 4 inch max. Changes corners to rounded. Never use halogen lights. These lights are too hot and can feel the heat beating down on arms. Specifications are suggested for all under cabinet hoods. The hood needs to be out of the way of cooking.

Blower motor went out after light use
Mendy

This was installed in my new home in 2017. It worked great for a few years. One day I went to use the exhaust fan it it made terrible noise. The motor had gone out. And of course it™™s past warranty. A new motor cost almost as much as a replacement hood. So I™™ve lived with out an exhaust fan in my kitchen for years and now my microwave has been on the fritz for a couple of years. Whirlpool used to be gold standard of appliances and now they don™™t last very long. Disappointed to say the least.

Major installation issues

A Whirlpool contractor installed this hood range and five years later it came crashing down almost hitting my wife on the way and damaging the hood range. Whirlpool just gave me the "it's out of warranty." It was abundantly clear the installation was not done properly, the screws came out the wood because they were drilled in an area with too little surface area to hold them and the main screw holds were never used. I was told by a Whirlpool representative that the main screw holds are never used for recessed under counter cabinets. Yikes, that sounds like maybe it's a problem since these things are falling from the sky! This same problem happened to someone else in my neighborhood. I brought this up issue with the help desk and corporate. No luck. Not even a response from corporate. I suggest buying from a company that understands mounted products should stay on their walls for a lifetime and not just 2 years!

It really sucks!! and needs some parts TLC
CooksAlot

I have owned this for 5+ years and still enjoy the volume of air it moves at the sound levels it produces and ease of cleaning the flat filters. I dont love the lack of a dimmer on the lights and really dont like the required cleaning of the blower cage. Now the motor has started squealing and suspect a failing bearing in the motor. Needs some upgrades in the filtering to prevent yearly required de-greasing of the blower. maybe a disposable fiberous filter similar to the snap on charcoal?

Lights stopped working after just 1 year!

This range hood came with my new house, I opted to pay a huge premium for the full kitchenaid package and between a faulty stove and now a hood vent that stopped working right after warranty I definitely regret it and question quality. To make matters worse, I spent almost an hour waiting on the phone to try and get a technician and to speak with me or help troubleshoot and couldn't even get a human on the phone. Disappointed and left with few options that won't cost me even more $$$

Grease trap
Gem48

Bought new home with this hood. Hood so far after 7 months works fine except there is no grease trap other than the filters, which are cleaned religiously. However, there is still grease that drops from the middle filter onto the stove. Grease accumulates on the motor and drops below. Not a good design. Should have a grease trap installed.

Third time used fan and light appliance switches wouldn™™t shut it down. No way to manually override except to pull exhaust plug and take out light bulbs. Cheap construction.

Push button issue came off for me too
MMat
1/28/2020
I am very disappointed. I spent thousands on home appliances with Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool When I moved into my new home less than 5 years ago. The push button that controls fan speed came off of this stove hood and I needed to replace it. I called both parts and customer care and they both told me they couldn™™t sell me the push button but instead I had to spend $300 on an entirely new circuit board. This is outrageous when now multiple customers are having the same problem. Hope you are ok losing a customer that spent over 15k in appliances over a push button less than 5 years later...

Worst push button design
prasad

The push buttons you see on front are bad quality. We have chosen this for its high motor power but what is the use if the high speed button ejected every time we push other push buttons?
Looks like they are just glued and every time I push one button, previous selected button ejects out. Could not fix it.

Blower plastic part melted after heavy use

my range hood came with the new house that I have bought about one and half years ago. One day after heavy cooking on the stove for about an hour. And suddenly the blower became very loud. It turned out that blower's plastic fan blades have melted away.

This hood has great lights! They are bright without being glaring. The fan speeds are great and operate quietly. My old hood was very noisy this is so quiet I want to turn it on and use it!

The style fits with my other appliances and works pretty good. Only issue is the noise the unit makes on the highest speed. Not the fan sound, but the whole unit vibrates more than I would expect.
