Husband purchased for me Christmas 2016, March of 2017 sounded like the gears were stripping out. The 2 stars? Customer service. They sent me a new one, with return shipping. I bake cookies once wk, this mixer was used for absoulty nothing else..YES!!! the new one has gears going out...suppose to be sending me yet another...this is very poor quality for such a respectable brand. Honestly? Reluctant to even use the new one when it gets here.. would not reccomend at all

I received this item in red for Christmas two years ago new from target. I have used it only a handful of times. I was trying to make cookies last week when the cap (& rod) that houses the rotor/grease/shaft/ gears inside completely detatched and landed in my bowl of cookie dough. My husband and I both tried to reattach this piece, but there are no screws to hold it up...only what seems to be tension. I expected better from Kitchenaid and now I have a useless mixer.

My husband bought this for me several years ago refurbished,,,,way to heavy and difficult to move around...wanted the one with the head that tilts back. Very messy to use...I'm stuck with it now. My question is can I get a pour shield for this model???

I received the Professional 5 Plus as a gift. It is powerful and does a great job, my problem is not being able to tilt the head back. How do you get the bowl out, it is a real pain, the beaters go back into the dough while you are trying to get the bowl out, what a mess it makes too, the beaters drip all over. I would like to be able to tilt the head back and remove the beaters. How do the rest of you deal with this?

I received this Professional 5 Plus Series Bowl Lift Stand Mixer for my wedding 12 years ago. It has not held up over time. A few years ago, the bowl and beater lost their alignment, meaning the beater hits the bottom of the bowl, either knocking the bowl out of position or causing the beater to get stuck and stop turning entirely. I took it to a KitchenAid repair center last year and paid over $100 to have it recalibrated. I also purchased a new beater because the enamel chipped off my old beater due to all the contact with the bowl. The problem seemed to be fixed, and I put the mixer on a shelf. When I took it out a month later, it was doing the same thing. It's now pretty much unusable. I'm not sure if the bowl lift feature puts too much strain on the bowl, or if there is some other design flaw, but I'd recommend looking at a different model. These mixers should last a lifetime, but mine certainly did not. Get a different model, and get the longest warranty plan possible.

Love using my kitchen aide, it is so easy to use and clean up is a breeze. Only thing I wish was different is if the top opened up and lifted the beater our of the bowl. But over all I love my kitchenaide!
