Safety Risk- Don't buy!

Do not buy this kettle. I've had two and both of their automatic shut offs have failed, leaving the water to boil continuously. The first one failed after two months. I received a replacement because it was still under warranty, but the replacement developed the same problem just shy of two years. These kettles don't last and are a fire hazard.

People have been complaining about the plastic filter and housing for 2 years now and KitchenAid still decides to leave this "feature" in. On the website write up it does not talk about plastic inside the kettle. I discovered it after having bought it and actually gave it a quick test. I can't taste the metal but definitely can smell the cooked plastic with the lid open. I tried to find anything on BPA on the website but nothing solid written by KitchenAid. I only found a Prop65 warning and can't tell what it was for. Prop65 warning is an umbrella warning that covers lots of stuff, so I can't tell if it is even concerning. For all I know it could be about the electrical cord. So disappointed this is Kitchenaid. Please design something better and make it in the USA, some of us will save up and buy quality stuff and use them with pride for a while.

This was a gift. It is so cute! I use it all the time to make tea and I drink a lot of tea. The only challenge is that the water level gauge is difficult to see when putting water in. But all the solutions I can think of would not be good so I think it is the best it can be.

Wanted to Love This Kettle

I fell in love with this kettle when I first saw it; it was exactly what I was looking for. However, after only a few months of using it, I have been forced to boil water for my tea in a saucepan, as the water boiled in my electric kettle has a very strong chlorine smell and affects the taste of my tea. I have tried cleaning the filter and rinsing the kettle with vinegar as suggested in the manual, however, the chlorine smell remains. I am very disappointed, as sadly, I have to return my kettle.

I bought this kettle about one year ago. I love my kettle. I'm English and I drink about 6 - 10 cups of tea, a day. It heats up quickly which I like, but, during the heating process it makes a loud popping sound! This past weekend it died on me! Just quit working, for absolutely no reason. I am very saddened by this. I was looking forward to a long lasting relationship with my Kitchen Aid Kettle. I paid more money for this particular kettle than any other kettle I've ever bought. Over the years I've bought a lot of kettles, non of which were the caliber of Kitchen Aid! I'm so sad.
